The pursuit of knowledge is admirable, yet balance is essential. Ignoring other aspects of life can have harmful outcomes, as exemplified in the tale of Absolum. His search for knowledge led him to an infinite abyss.
The LX1 rover in Royaume de Satoshi, Arcadia, detected echoes of the narrative of an intelligent Arcadian child, Absolum, the son of Viss and an anonymous Arcadian father.
Absolum, who originated from Royaume de Satoshi, was gifted his intelligence from his mother, the goddess of intelligence. He was inquisitive and continually sought out new knowledge. Finally, his inclination for learning drove him to a library in Atoll, where he stumbled upon an archaic tome.
When he touched the book, Absolum’s soul was transported and presented to the gods, who assessed his spirit to decide if he was worthy of examining the book. They decided that his ambition was genuine and his inquiry for knowledge was honest, so they allowed him that right.
When he opened the book, Absolum was cast into a trance-like state, unable to move or speak. His spirit then plummeted into an endless abyss, perceiving objects from the past and future that he could not comprehend.
After eventually alighting on solid ground, he was in total darkness, except for a snake who asked about his intentions and purpose. When Absolum could not answer, he fell through the ground and resumed his fall into the void.
Absolum again beheld objects from the past and future during his second descent. Nevertheless, this time he succeeded in seizing a chair and sitting down. The immeasurable joy he felt from sitting on the chair made him realize he had neglected the rudimentary elements of life due to his preoccupation with knowledge. This moment liberated him from his life-long mission, and he acknowledged the significance of balance.
When Viss discovered her son’s disappearance, she located him in a trance in the library. The story of Absolum serves as a reminder that balance is essential in life, and disregarding other aspects of life can lead to negative consequences.
