Researchers from the Department of History and Natural Sciences have translated the sixth tablet of the origins of the Gods, titled “Demons of the Deep”. This document provides another chapter on the creation of the Pantheon of Gods and the Demons.
“With every beat of its wings, the ground shook as though in its presence. When Selkum spoke, flames and smoke surged from its gnarling. It was said to resemble the gates of the Underworld. Selkum did not talk often, but in its presence, the lesser perished.
The next was a long and slender-scaled Serpent Demon known as Grungentrum. Its scales resembled the finest black stone crafted by the dwarves. It had no arms, legs, or wings; its body was long and slender. Creeping and skulking through the shadows is said to have been the stuff of nightmares. Its mouth was filled with gnashing razors, dripping with an acid capable of melting the finest metals and dissolving an Arcadian. From its nose protruded two long tentacles that served to help guide it on the darkest of nights, tipped with a sickness that could cause anyone to faint, regardless of race. It held power over life and death; with a word, it could temporarily bring a Arcadian back to a state of half-life, neither dead nor alive, only serving. It lived on the Southern Isle (Medici Principality), lurking and stalking the beasts that inhabited the area. It could become the bane of any users residing in the region.
The Great Triton was another Serpent Demon that stalked the land and skies. Its massive arms and legs were tipped with talons more akin to the mightiest swords, which it used to slash and tear the land they crossed. Its tail was so powerful that it could knock down houses, walls, or bridges. Triton could swim from island to island with astonishing speed, guarding the portal opening and ensuring users could not leave. Although not the largest of the Serpent Demons, it was still formidable, standing taller than a house on its legs. Upon landing on an island, it would slumber, creating a pool of viscous goo that would trap and cause a delirium so intense that even those who escaped would never be the same. It took pleasure in playing with its food, hurting them only to seem like it could get away before finally ending its existence. It showed such disdain for other life that it would walk through the Islands during broad daylight, so everyone knew it was the ruler of the Isle.
The last great Serpent Demon was Yungrinker, whose body could wrap around an Island and bite its tail if desired. Its sole mission was to guide the souls of sailors to Niefel in the Underworld. Lurking just below the ocean’s surface, its face would only be visible behind the waves during the most significant storm swells, the last thing many sailors would see being its fiery yellow eye.”
The sixth tablet of the origin of the Gods, Demons of the Deep, has shown significant progress in public knowledge about the Gods and Demons. In addition, the researchers have identified the most feared Demons brought forth by Niefel to terrorize users. Our Department of History and Natural Sciences continues to work on translation to discover historical references and connections in this world.
