Continuing their efforts, researchers and scholars from the Department of History and Natural Sciences have successfully translated Tablet Twelve–The Origins of the Tortins. This translation provides deeper insight into the race created by Ver, the God of Water, and their loyalty to their creator.

Translation

Ver formed the Tortins with a handful of water and sand mixed with Annuler’s blood. He wanted to create a race devoted to seafaring, who would live around the shorelines and display mastery of the seas.

The first Tortin Triad, composed of Raven Strongsail, Isla Strongsail, and Ambrose, The Weller, played a significant role in developing the Tortins as a people. Raven Strongsail led the Tortins to various islands, pioneering shipbuilding techniques to outmaneuver Yungrinker, a Serpent Demon. Isla Strongsail ensured that wherever the Tortins settled, an area of plenty would follow. Ambrose, the Weller, had an affinity with nature and could control the tides and beasts of the sea.

To maintain their blessings from Ver, the Tortins were obliged to offer one-third of their best catch and one of their most sophisticated vessels every ninth year. If they failed to provide this offering, Ver would make their ships sink, and they would be pursued relentlessly by Yungrinker. Ver was the only protection they had from Yungrinker, but these blessings could be taken away at any time.

Next Steps

The Origin of the Tortin has revealed the history of their presence and the conditions that must be met to maintain their blessing. The Department of History and Natural Sciences is diligently endeavoring to translate and uncover the historical references that are a part of this pristine world.
